During the WWII, the historic buildings of Marktplatz and Rathaus (Bremen Square) were dismantled against the risk of bombing, and after the war they were turned into the old original.
Part of the town of Halfeti remained underwater as the Birecik Dam started to fill up in 2000. Halfeti Mosque, the historical artifacts taken by the waters of Birecik Dam. But the mosque minaret is still visible.
