1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Walktionary (walktionary.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the platform.

2. Service Description

Walktionary is a walking experience platform that provides curated walking tours, city exploration guides, points of interest, and community-driven content. The platform includes personalized recommendations, discovery features, and tools for exploring cities on foot.

3. User Accounts

You may browse the site without creating an account.
Creating an account requires a valid email address.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
Walker accounts are granted upon approval of a walker application.
To delete your account, email info@walktionary.com. We will remove your personal data within 30 days.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. User-Generated Content

If you contribute content as a walker (experiences, photos, routes), you:

Retain ownership of your original content.
Grant Walktionary a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content on the platform.
Confirm that your content does not infringe on any third-party rights.
Are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.

Favorites, tour preferences, and other interactions are stored to personalize your experience and are not shared publicly.

5. Intellectual Property

The Walktionary name, logo, design, and all platform-generated content (including tour algorithms, scoring systems, and editorial content) are the property of Walktionary. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.

6. Limitation of Liability

Walktionary provides walking tours and location information for informational purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, safety, or availability of any location, route, or point of interest. You use the platform and follow any suggested routes at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Walktionary shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

7. Walking & Location Data

Walktionary may collect walking activity data, location information, and exploration statistics to provide personalized recommendations and improve the platform experience. This data collection requires your explicit consent:

Walking Data: Distance walked, routes taken, and exploration patterns. Collected only when you opt in via your account settings.
Location Tracking: Your real-time location is used for proximity-based notifications and nearby place discovery. Collected only when you grant location permission and enable this feature.
Public Statistics: Your walking statistics may be displayed on public leaderboards or profile pages. This requires separate opt-in consent.
You may withdraw consent at any time through your account settings. Withdrawing consent stops future data collection but does not automatically delete previously collected data.
You have the right to request deletion of all your walking and location data at any time through your account settings or by contacting info@walktionary.com.
Data processing complies with applicable laws including GDPR (for EU/EEA users) and KVKK (for users in Turkey). Country-specific details are provided in our Privacy Policy.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or to promote illegal activity.
Post content that is abusive, harassing, defamatory, or infringes the rights of others.
Submit false, misleading, or spam content.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform or other user accounts.
Scrape, crawl, or automatically extract content except via features we provide.
Interfere with the platform's normal operation (denial-of-service attempts, excessive API calls, reverse engineering).

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Istanbul, Turkey.
