Walk through complete darkness under one of Japan's most famous temples — no flashlights allowed.

A pitch-dark subterranean walk beneath Kiyomizu-dera, entered just to the left of the temple's ticket window. Visitors feel their way through total darkness, symbolically passing through a womb-like space. Easily Kyoto's most unusual attraction.
