Ikejiri is a cool-kids pocket of the city, and the crowd that frequents Bunka Yokusen at night is no different. Renovated by Kentaro Imai, an architect who gives old bathhouses a second lease of life, this indoor has a modern edge that draws in younger folk – some of whom were skeptical about communal bathing before visiting. A jazz soundtrack and a tattoos-welcome policy help matters, too.
