Cistern of Aetios (Vefa Stadium)

A vast open-air Byzantine water cistern from the 5th century — now functioning as a football stadium in Vefa. One of the strangest repurposings in Istanbul: where Romans stored water for a city of a million, Fatih locals now play football. The retaining walls are original Roman/Byzantine.
