Santiago Calatrava's soaring City of Arts and Sciences occupies a massive 350,000-sq-metre swath of the old Turia riverbed. It's a series of breathtaking futuristic buildings — the Oceanogràfic aquarium (the largest in Europe), the Hemisfèric IMAX planetarium (shaped like a human eye), the Palau de les Arts opera house, and the Museu de les Ciències. Like a science-fiction city dropped into the Mediterranean sun.
