Smarting with the audacity of a modern-day Eiffel Tower, the Metropol Parasol (opened March 2011) claims to be the largest wooden structure in the world. Its undulating honeycomb roof is held up by five giant mushroom-like pillars, earning it the local nickname Las Setas de la Encarnación (the Mushrooms). The rooftop walkway offers spectacular views, and Roman ruins are visible in the basement.
