80,000 Jews were deported through this theatre door — the facade glass is engraved with every family name
This former theatre became a deportation centre during WWII — 80,000 Jews passed through here on their way to death camps. Only the facade survives; inside is a memorial courtyard with a wall listing 6,700 family names. Glass panels on the facade are engraved with the names of all Jewish families deported. One of the most powerful Holocaust memorials anywhere.
