Designed by master animator Miyazaki Hayao himself, this museum has the dreamy, vaguely steampunk atmosphere of a Studio Ghibli film come to life. Every detail — from the stained-glass windows to the spiral staircases — rewards close attention. Kids can clamber over a giant plush Cat Bus from My Neighbor Totoro, while adults marvel at original animated shorts screened in a tiny theater that can only be seen here. The rooftop garden features a life-size Robot Soldier from Castle in the Sky standing guard among the greenery. Tickets must be booked months in advance.
