The site of the Ottoman 'Tulip Era' pleasure gardens where Ahmed III held his famous nocturnal tulip festivals in the 1720s — tortoises carrying candles wandered between the flowers. Nothing of the original pavilions survives, but the Kağıthane valley with its ancient plane trees, historic ponds, and the Sadabad mosque remains a green lung for the neighbourhood. In spring, tulips still bloom here.
