The last surviving church built by the medieval Genoese colony in Galata, now the neighbourhood's main mosque. Its unusual square bell-tower-turned-minaret and Gothic architectural traces make it unlike any other mosque in the city. Dating from 1337, it was converted to a mosque by Moorish refugees from Spain — hence the name.
