Three museums in one leafy complex just below Topkapı Palace, holding treasures that span millennia — from a Hittite treaty tablet to the hauntingly beautiful Alexander Sarcophagus. The Ancient Orient Museum alone is worth the detour, with artefacts from Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Anatolia. Easily one of the world's great archaeology collections, and blissfully uncrowded compared to its neighbours.
