The oldest surviving Ottoman civil building in Istanbul — built in 1472 for Fatih Sultan Mehmet, now part of the Archaeology Museums complex. The İznik tile facade predates the famous Blue Mosque tiles by 150 years. Murat Belge describes it as 'the beginning of Istanbul's Ottoman aesthetic.'
