Walk Madrid's forgotten Moorish quarter — the winding lanes where Muslim Mayrit's community lived on long after the Christian conquest.

The area stretching northwest from the Iglesia de San Andrés to the viaduct was the heart of the morería — Madrid's Moorish quarter — where the Muslim population of Mayrit was concentrated after the 11th-century Christian takeover. The maze of winding, hilly lanes still retains a whiff of a North African medina if you strain the imagination. A few Mudéjar architectural traces survive amid the narrow streets.
