A massive neo-Gothic palace (1906-25) housing four museums under one roof — History, Art, Science, and Ethnography. The exterior with its gargoyles and spires looks like a Transylvanian castle transplanted to Moldavia. Iași was Romania's capital during WWI, and the palace symbolises the city's intellectual pride.
