One of the treasures of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Kosovo's finest medieval monument, built by Serbian King Stefan Dečanski between 1327 and 1335 with stunning frescoes covering every interior surface. The stone façade features Romanesque-Byzantine decorative details of exceptional quality. The monastery sits in a beautiful wooded gorge and despite Kosovo's turbulent recent history, the monks continue their ancient routines.
