Water so clear your shadow on the seabed looks sharper than it does on land.

A 700-metre stretch of stunning white sand fronted by clear, shallow water and a bit of coral, Furuzamami Beach is the Kerama Islands' most popular swimming and snorkelling spot — and it earns the crowds. It's about a kilometre southeast from the port, over a small hill, and well set up for day trippers with toilets, showers and food stalls. Snorkelling gear rents for a pittance, and even in the shallows you'll spot colourful reef fish. The water is so transparent that your shadow on the seabed looks sharper than it does on land.
