Local Secret — most visitors never find this place
One of Tokyo's rare minyo izakaya, Oiwake is a homey pub where the waitstaff double as musicians, performing traditional folk music on tsugaru-jamisen, hand drums, and bamboo flute. The same person who takes your order might be the one performing at 7pm. Seating is on tatami, the atmosphere is warm, and children are welcome for the early show. It's a living connection to a musical tradition that's increasingly hard to find in modern Tokyo.
