Local Secret — most visitors never find this place
Dating from 1578, Murakami-ke is one of the oldest gasshō-zukuri houses in the entire region, now a small museum where the proud owner personally shows visitors around. If you're lucky, he'll sing you traditional folk songs, his voice filling the dark timber interior with a warmth that no audio guide could replicate. It's an intimate, human encounter with centuries of mountain life.
