In the days when climbing Mt Fuji was a pilgrimage rather than a tourist event, Fuji-Yoshida's oshi-no-ie inns sheltered and spiritually prepared the faithful. This restored example offers insight into the fascinating Edo-era practice of Fuji worship, with its tatami rooms and ritual implements preserved as they once were. Very few of these pilgrims' inns still function, making this a rare window into a spiritual tradition that shaped the mountain's identity.
