Old City of Yazd

One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Yazd's historic centre is a labyrinth of sun-dried mud-brick lanes, wind towers (badgirs) and courtyard houses that UNESCO deems one of the oldest towns on earth. The brown skyline punctuated by tall wind-catchers creates an otherworldly silhouette, best explored by simply getting lost.
