Climb ancient stairs from the port to a hilltop maze — the Venetian castle at the top is mostly ruins, but the view is worth every step.
One of the most striking Cycladic capitals — the hora of Serifos spills across the summit of a steep rocky hill above the port of Livadi. Ancient steps lead upward through a wonderful maze of whitewashed alleys to a charming main square watched over by an imposing neoclassical town hall. Further steps climb to the remnants of a ruined 15th-century Venetian Kastro, from where the views are spectacular.
