Ancient Lindos with its sugarcube houses tumbling into the turquoise sea, founded by the Dorians around 2000 BC. Overlaid with Byzantine, Frankish and Turkish remains atop the original Doric settlement. A ten-minute walk west of the acropolis brings you to the sheltered St Paul's Bay with turquoise water that makes your heart ache.
