A 19th-century waterfall, a Cold War dam, and ancient river gorge — the Oker Valley packs unexpected drama into eleven kilometres of forest.

An 11km hike through one of the prettiest valleys in the western Harz, following the Oker River to a massive 1950s dam. Along the way you pass the 60m-high Römkerhalle waterfall, created in 1863. The trail is marked with a red triangle and offers gorgeous Harz mountain scenery.
