Follow Erna-Berger-Strasse to its dead end and you'll find a lone GDR watchtower standing forgotten behind the new glass facades.

An octagonal square first laid out in 1734 that was once one of Berlin's most beautiful public spaces, designed by the urban planning dream team of Schinkel and Lenné. Like Potsdamer Platz beside it, it rose again from the death strip after 1989. Hidden behind the new buildings stands a rare remaining GDR border watchtower on Erna-Berger-Strasse.
