Five hundred years ago this was the only way across the river — and some statues have stood here since 1683.
The magnificent 14th-century stone bridge linking Malá Strana and the Old Town across the Vltava River, lined with 30 baroque statues of saints and offering one of Europe's most iconic urban views — the castle and cathedral rising above red rooftops on one side, the Old Town spires on the other. Built in 1357, it was Prague's only bridge for nearly 500 years. Dawn on the bridge, before the crowds arrive, is a private moment in one of Europe's most beautiful cities.
