A Greek colony from 612 BC — cobblestoned lanes, wooden houses overhanging the sea, and free concerts in summer.
Ancient Sozopol's charming old town sits on a narrow peninsula jutting into the Black Sea, its cobbled streets lined with pretty wooden National Revival houses that lean over the water. Founded by Greek colonists in the 7th century BC, it is one of Bulgaria's oldest towns, with two superb beaches flanking the peninsula. In summer it hosts free outdoor concerts and has a lively but not overwhelming cultural scene.
