Since 1960, at the top of the building where the Apple Store on the Left Square is located, over the years the illuminated Tio Pepe billboard, a symbol of the square, was standing. Tio Pepe is a famous sherry (jerez) drink brand produced in Andalusia. When the Apple company bought the building in 2014, it wanted to lift the billboard, but the people resisted it by showing resistance. Finally, a middle way was found, and the billboard was placed on top of another building overlooking the square.

Pepe amca Apple’a Karşı
1960’larda bu yana Sol Meydanı’nındaki Apple Mağazasi’nın olduğu binanın tepesinde, yillar içinde meydanın sembolü olmuş olan ışıklı “Tio Pepe” reklamı durmakta idi. Tio Pepe Endülüs’te üretilen ünlü bir şeri (jerez) markasıdır. Apple firması 2014 yılında binayı satin aldığında bu reklam panosunu kaldırmak istedi fakat Madridliler direniş göstererek buna karşı çıktılar. Sonunda orta bir yol bulunarak reklam panosu meydana bakan başka bir binanın tepesine yerleştirildi.
