It is said that Kuveloğlu Han was a hotel built in the 19th century by a French architect – some sources write it as 1888 – for the accommodation of Ottoman trade caravans who entered the city from Edirnekapı. It is located in the Kantarcılar area of Eminönü Küçükpazar district.
The ceiling of the building is made of glass and has been protected from many fires due to the durable materials used in its construction. There is a cistern with a depth of 4 meters on the ground of the inn. Rainwater accumulating on its roof flows through a pipe system and accumulates there. Thus, water is carried from here to the fires that took place in the near environment in the past.
The inn is still actively used. On the ground floor, there is a pide shop that has been in service for 38 years, and on the upper floors there are various workshops that repair guns, rifles and leather jackets.
There is no information about who built “Kuveloğlu Han”.

130 Yıllık Bir Han Konuşabilse Bize Neler Anlatırdı? : Kuveloğlu Han
Kuveloğlu Han’ın 19. yy.’da Fransız bir mimar tarafından -bazı kaynaklar 1888 olarak yazıyor- Edirnekapı’dan şehre giriş yapan osmanlı ticaret kervancıların konaklamaları için inşaa edilen bir otel olduğu söylenir. Eminönü Küçükpazar semtinde Kantarcılar mevkisinde yer alır.
Binanın tavanı camdan yapılmıştır ve bir çok yangından yapımında kullanılan dayanıklı malzemeler sayesinde korunmuştur. Han’ın zemininde 4 metre derinliğinde bir sarnıç vardır. Çatısında biriken yağmur suları bir boru sistemiyle akar ve burada birikir. Böylece geçmişte yakın çevrede gerçekleşen yangınlara buradan da su taşınmıştır. Osmanlı Dönemi’ne uygun olarak avlulu hanlar gibi şekillenen bu yapı, dış tarafında neo-klasik ögeler taşımaktadır.
Han hala aktif olarak kullanılmaktadır. Giriş katta 38 yıldır hizmet veren bir pideci, üst katlarda ise tabanca, tüfek ve deri ceket tamiri yapan çeşitli atölyeler vardır.
Han’ı kimin yaptırdığına dair bir bilgi yoktur.
